Is Cattery Better Than Leaving My Cat at Home?
Many owners wonder, “Is a cattery good for cats?” The answer is YES!
Leaving your cat at home may seem easier, but catteries provide:
🏡 Supervised care (No risk of accidents or loneliness)
🩺 Medical attention available (Vet nurse on-site)
🛏 Clean & secure environment (Unlike an empty house)
💡 Fact: Studies show that cats left alone for 48+ hours can develop separation anxiety.

So for a long time, we have been working on turning our ex-green house/ shed into a cattery and we are almost there.
We have a brand new communal cattery which houses a small number of cats, to book your furbabies for their stay please email us info@newflands.co.nz with your dates and we will go from there.
We have had a trial which went well with 4 cats from the same household see pics and review below by Rob Martin a father to 4 furbabies.
I have known Fiona for a number of years, and when she told me she was opening a cattery, she was the natural choice for us to look after our fur-babies – one of which, is a geriatric lady, who requires regular medical assistance and regular delivery of drugs. Owing to Fiona being a qualified veterinary nurse, I felt very comfortable that our cats would be very well looked after by Fiona and her husband.
The cattery is well laid out with both large indoor and outdoor areas for the cats to explore and plenty of individual bedding for the cats to feel comfortable. There is a heat pump in the cattery to keep the cats warm (especially in winter) and lots of toys, food bowls and other means of keeping kitty entertained.
I think we were more worried leaving a sick cat in Fiona’s care because of the nature of her illness (we thought we were going to lose her some months ago) than Fiona was – but we need not have worried. Our pensioner was well cared for – thanks to lashings of Fiona’s pet gravy, which the old lady loves.
Although it is a bit of a trot out of Auckland to get to Timothy’s Lodge Cattery at Newflands, the lovely rural location and fantastic facility ensured our bundles of fur had a wonderful holiday without us and of course, we have them all booked in to visit Fiona for our next trip.
