Whakatane Kiwi Trust pest trap maps showing Newflands sponsored traps
In New Zealand, we’re doing our best to help conservation and preserve our native flora and fauna species. One of the ways in which we do this by trapping species that have been introduced New Zealand and are creating havoc to varying degrees in the native biodiversity of New Zealand one of these pests is the stoat.
At Newflands I’ve always been interested in sustainability and preserving New Zealand with the ability to help our pets at the same time. During the lock-down, I was interviewed for the Buy New Zealand Made Podcast by Ryan Jennings. I’ve also had the chance to listen to these podcasts. During one podcast where Ollie from Bushman tours was interviewed, it was pointed out to me that we could sponsor a trap that would then enable Newflands to help in another way to keep our kiwis in a sustainable situation in native bush and helping other species in New Zealand but without hurting our pet cats and dogs.
I have chosen a trap in the Whakatane Kiwi trust trap website for Newflands to sponsor.
We have chosen trap MK45 and hope to have the logo attached to it shortly.
It’s a way we are going to trial and think about sustainability. We hope by collaborating with another organisation we can be even more effective in our sustainability. This time on land not in the sea. We need to think about sustainability in a variety of different ways not just what directly impacts our company.
